Shipping a 20-ton excavator across oceans requires precise planning to prevent damage from saltwater corrosion and maritime motion. There are three main methods we use to ship excavators worldwide: 1. Container Shipping: For mini excavators under 6 tons, we can fit them into standard 20ft or 40ft containers. This is the most secure and cost-effective method. 2. Flat Rack (FR) Containers: For 20-ton class excavators like the CAT 320D or Sany SY215, we dismantle the arm and bucket, drive the machine onto a flat rack container, and lash it with heavy-duty steel wire ropes. This method is highly flexible and integrates perfectly with global container liners. 3. Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) Shipping: For large-scale projects, we drive the excavator directly onto the enclosed deck of a specialized RoRo vessel. This offers the best protection from sea spray, though it is only available at major commercial ports.
